EB4BM is a transformative BBSRC-funded CDT training programme in Engineering Biology for Biomedicine, offering fully funded PhD studentships with interdisciplinary projects co-supervised by engineering and biomedical experts, preparing students to translate biological engineering advances into healthcare solutions.
Project Description
The programme trains a new generation of engineering biologists who can bridge fundamental biological design principles and practical biomedical challenges. Students undertake bespoke training in biomolecular engineering, biomaterials engineering, and bioprocessing/scale-up, plus metrology training via NPLβs PostGraduate Institute, entrepreneurship, regulatory challenges, research integrity, and cohort-building activities.
Students will develop both technical depth and interdisciplinary breadth, gaining skills in project management, teamwork, and communication necessary for translating engineering biology into tangible healthcare benefits.
