Fully funded EPSRC CDT in Materials 4.0 offering interdisciplinary PhD training in digital materials science, including machine learning, robotics, and data-driven approaches across leading UK universities.

Project Description

The EPSRC CDT in Developing National Capability for Materials 4.0 aims to accelerate materials discovery using digital and data-driven approaches. The programme addresses global challenges such as net-zero, circular economy, and productivity through innovation in materials science. Students will begin their PhD immediately while receiving interdisciplinary training in robotics, data science, machine learning, sensing, and control. The CDT is led by the Henry Royce Institute and delivered across seven leading UK universities, combining academic and industrial research. Participants will: Undertake a fully funded PhD project Work with leading researchers and industry partners Gain expertise in digital materials science Join a national cohort of Materials 4.0 researchers The programme promotes flexible and inclusive pathways, including part-time and industry-sponsored study options.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) in a STEM undergraduate degree. Applications must include:
