Project Description

This PhD project investigates the history of sexual health research at Aston University between 1960 and 1989 using archival sources. The research will examine key figures, initiatives, and publications that shaped sexual health discourse, including early student health services and educational programmes. It will explore how research was conducted, communicated, and connected to wider social movements around sexuality and public health. Based within the Aston University Archives Centre, the project contributes to interdisciplinary scholarship on archives, sexuality, and social history, linking local developments to broader cultural and political contexts.

Entry Requirements

Requirements:
• First or Upper Second Class undergraduate degree and a Master’s degree (Merit or Distinction) in a relevant field
• Interest in historical and archival research
• Experience with archival or historical research (desirable)
• English language proficiency (if applicable)
