Fully funded PhD at Aston University exploring re-reading practices and their impact on reader wellbeing using cognitive stylistics and empirical research.

Project Description

This PhD project investigates the phenomenon of re-reading and its effects on reader experience and wellbeing. The research will explore how and why readers return to texts and how repeated readings influence interpretation, attention, and emotional response. Using cognitive stylistic frameworks, the project will analyse how reader perspectives evolve across multiple readings. The study will include an empirical component, collecting data on reader responses to examine links between re-reading, empathy, and wellbeing. The project is based within the Aston Stylistics Research Centre, contributing to interdisciplinary work across linguistics, literary studies, and psychology.
