Programme Overview
Programme Overview
This MASc program at the University of Guelph invites students to engage in innovative research within the Predictive Alloy Design and Extreme Mechanics lab. The program spans two years, starting Fall 2026 and concluding Fall 2028, focusing on advanced materials and mechanical behaviour of alloys.
What You Will Study
Students will explore 3D printing of alloys, additive manufacturing techniques, wear and deformation in agricultural machinery, conductivity and multifunctional alloy performance, high strain-rate testing, failure analysis, and microstructure-property relationships using SEM/TEM characterization. The program also incorporates AI methods to guide materials design, specifically targeting high entropy alloys and synthesis techniques.
Career Opportunities
Graduates will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art testing and characterization tools, training in AI-driven materials design, and opportunities for academic publications and collaborative research. Career paths include advanced materials engineering, mechanical testing, additive manufacturing technology, and research scientist roles in academia and industry.
Why This Programme
Our lab projects are tailored for students with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, materials science, manufacturing, or related fields. We foster a collaborative research environment encouraging innovation and interdisciplinary learning. Domestic applicants are strongly encouraged, and international applicants with partial scholarships or external funding are welcome to apply.
