Fully funded PhD exploring how digital platforms enable coordination and implementation of mission-driven innovation policies across Australia and Europe.

Project Description

This PhD investigates how digital and hybrid platforms are used to coordinate mission-oriented innovation policies addressing global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and public health. The research will conduct a comparative study of initiatives in the European Union (e.g., Horizon Europe missions) and Australia (e.g., CSIRO and NRF programmes), analysing how platforms support collaboration, alignment, and governance across sectors. Using qualitative methods such as interviews, policy analysis, and digital trace data, the project will develop a framework for designing and governing mission platforms. Outputs will include policy-relevant tools, design principles, and implementation guidance for stakeholders. The project combines platform theory, innovation policy, and governance research to produce both academic and practical contributions.
