Fully funded PhD at the Biology Centre CAS investigating rapid evolution and its effects on community dynamics using experimental and genomic approaches.

Project Description

This PhD project explores how rapid evolution influences community dynamics, host–parasite interactions, and genetic diversity. The research uses experimental systems involving wild Drosophila species and parasitoids, combining laboratory microcosm experiments, population genomics, and eco-evolutionary modelling. The project aims to understand how evolutionary processes affect ecological stability and biodiversity. The student will work within the Laboratory of Experimental Ecology, part of an internationally funded ERC project, and will have opportunities for collaboration and research stays abroad.

Entry Requirements

MSc degree (required for PhD entry in Czech Republic)
• Background in ecology, genetics, or related field
• Experience with laboratory experiments, population genetics, or molecular ecology (advantageous)
• Interest in eco-evolutionary dynamics and modelling
